The Application Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the customer application and monitoring/investigation of segment interfaces. The Application Engineers, under the direction of the Site Lead, is responsible for working with on-site database and system administration support personnel to convey and investigate system anomalies.
The Application Engineers are used to provide rotating site support (7x24) to ensure system issues are identified and resolved, minimizing operational impacts.
- The Application Engineers duties include; Perform application start-up/shutdown in support of maintenance and installation activities.
- Monitor the system through the use of diagnostic tools and other monitoring capabilities.
- Create and maintain user accounts and group assignments.
- Analyze and evaluate performance metrics.
- Work with Sys Admin personnel to perform scheduled system backups of the application and data in compliance with site security and disaster policies.
- Enter and track site DRs within the DR system, assist with DR investigations, and regression test DR fixes as applicable.
- Schedule, perform, and record routine preventative maintenance.
- Coordinate through the Enterprise Service Center (ESC) Customer Support Representative (CSR) for warranty service and repair of system components covered under a vendor maintenance contract.
- Collect metrics and report them to the site's GPOC (as required).
- Maintain, as directed, user and maintenance manuals and documentation.
- Position is located at customer location and may require frequent customer interface.
